Mayumi Kanda has the background of nursing and midwifery. She is certified as a Baby massage instructor by the International Association of Infant Massage. She is also certified wellness coach and Jikiden Reiki practitioner (The Original Reiki from Japan).
Her classes are founded on the scientific evidence behind the benefits of Baby massage, so she shows not only “how” but also “what, where and why”. She’s passionate about helping mothers, babies and family members bond through the gentle touch of baby massage.
She believes the environment that the baby is in needs to be calm, so that mom, family and the baby get the most benefit of this nurturing time together. She respects each baby’s uniqueness and believes that mom knows baby best. When parents and caregivers feel supported and empowered in their massage work with their babies ‐‐ everyone benefits!
International Association of Baby Massage (IAIM)
IAIM was founded by Vimala McClure and was the first such global organization. Although Baby massage has existed for centuries in many countries around the world, Vimala was the first person to put together a professional scientific program. Its theory, curriculum, and focus are unique, and have been carefully developed and refined through research and practical experience since its introduction in 1976. Today, the Association is present in more than 60 countries and still growing! There are thousands of IAIM Certified Baby Massage Instructors (known as CIMIs) around the world.
